She originally was aiming for the 2014 Commonwealth Games but was chosen to go to Delhi after participating in a Gold4Glasgow event in May 2009, being picked up by the initiative which aims to fast-track athletes entry and development within established Scottish programmes and after she became the Scottish Road Cycling Champion (sportscotland.org.uk, 16 Sep 2010)
