While still at school, Di Marco relocated from Newcastle to Sydney to be coached by Lawrie Barclay. She is one of the leading Australian hammer throwers to have been developed by the New South Wales Institute of Sport's Greystanes Throwers Centre. Under coaches Lawrie Barclay and Ernie Shankleton they have also produced Bronwyn Eagles, Debbie Sosimenko and Brenda MacNaughton. (athletics.org.au 01 Sep 2009)
