When and where did you begin this sport? He took up athletics seriously at age 16. He had previously done the sport for fun in Nigeria, practising disciplines such as standing long jump and standing triple jump.
Why this sport? A friend in England asked him to join his team for a district event, and after winning the triple jump he was recruited by the Cambridge Harriers club in England.

Born in England, he grew up in London before moving to Lagos, Nigeria, to study for two years at age 10. He returned to England in 1992. He competed for Great Britain until 2009 when he decided to switch allegiance to Nigeria, where he also holds citizenship.
