When and where did you begin this sport? She began athletics as a cross-country runner at age 11. She took up race walking at age 18, in 2002.
Why this sport? At age 17 she realised she had to specialise in a specific athletics event. She chose race walking on the advice of John Paddick, a British Olympic race walker, who encouraged her to try the discipline.
