She was sent home from the 2012 Olympic Games in London and suspended from competition by the IAAF for three years due to a doping violation. She did not test positive in London, but rather voluntarily admitted to using a substance designed to improve the performance of race animals. The substance fell under the category of prohibited veterinary medicine. Her period of ineligibility ended 20 July 2015.
