Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport? He started in Mumbai.
Why this sport? When he was a child he would play in the natural pool that would form outside his home each monsoon. "Back then, my sister used to train at Mulund Gymkhana and I used to go watch her. But to be honest, I had more fun playing with water when my mother washed clothes in the bathroom or getting dirty in the makeshift pool outside my house with friends. This love for water is precisely why I got into the sport," he said.

Other information LONG TO SHORT
Having been a long distance swimmer through most of his career, with a focus on 1500m event, he decided to take up shorter distances as well after narrowly missing out on an Olympic berth at Beijing. (mumbaipluses.com, 08 Nov 2008)

His father worked for an insurance firm, but took a voluntary retirement scheme offered by his employer so that he could support his son's passion and move the family to places with better training facilities. His father never misses a meet, and loves running along the side of the pool yelling support at his son. (mumbaipluses.com, 08 Nov 2008)
