When and where did you begin this sport? He began swimming in 1995 at age 12 with the adaptive sport group at the Newry Leisure Centre in Northern Ireland.
Why this sport? He took up swimming to improve his fitness, and because he enjoyed it. "As an amputee, my parents thought it would be the best type of exercise for me. Later, I wanted to be like the Irish Paralympic swimmer Dave Malone."
