||He thought he was having a heart attack at training in June 2011. He was rushed to hospital where he was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle which produces symptoms similar to a heart attack and can also be life threatening. Although he had to stay in a cardiac clinic for a week and couldn't dive for three and a half months, he was eventually given the all-clear by doctors. (smh.com.au, 23 Feb 2012)
He missed out on the top three at the test event for the London 2012 Olympic Games, which he says drives him on to prove he can be one of the best divers in the world. "It puts fire in the belly. You have the end goal in sight. I am not close enough to the positions and the scores that I want. It gives you that bit of extra drive to go home and work that bit harder," he said.
