Training Regime He spends 5 days a week in Sheffield as part of the British Olympic boxing squad and trains for 2 days a week at Edinburgh University gym. He trains weights with his uncle which he says helped his destructive punching power early in his career.

Injuries He suffered an ankle injury in 2008 whilst sparring with super-middleweight boxer Kenny Anderson and was forced to pull out of a bout against Irish heavyweight Niall Kennedy. (sport.scotsman.com, 03 May 2008)

After failing to win a medal in the European Championships 2010, his again experienced financial woes when previous funding for the Commonwealth Games was withdrawn.
