In 2007 she and Malaysian shooters Joseline Cheah and Siti Nur Masitah Mohd Badrin were banned for two years by the International Shooting Sport Federation [ISSF] after testing positive for propranolol. They had pleaded not guilty to the offence, claiming they were unaware chocolates given to them by their coach Anatoly Egrishchin contained the banned substance. Why this sport? She also played volleyball and badminton, but when she was selected in shooting for the 1994 Sukma Games in Perak, Malaysia, she found she loved competing at that level and pursued shooting instead.
