Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport? In 2007. She hadn't cycled since riding her BMX as a kid growing up in Calder.
Why this sport? She took a year off from judo when a freak accident stopped her competing at the Commonwealth Games in 2002. She kept going to the gym and a conditioning coach she knew who had worked with sprint athletes thought she would be able to cross over to cycling. He harrassed her until she tried it and found she was good at it and loved the thrill.
Club / Team City of Edinburgh Racing Club: Edinburgh, SCO
Name of coach Allister Watson, Marco Librizzi and Mark Young.
Training Regime A lot of her training is in the gym developing strength. Her training on the bike happens either at the velodrome at Meadowbank, around Portobello Promenade or the science park in Pentlands. She has 3-4 sessions of bike work a week and 2 gym sessions. Each session is between 1-1.5 hours.
She also cycles to and from work.
