| Other information | EARLY DAYS Unlike many other athletes, he lacked support from his family during the beginning of his career but that has since changed due to his many successes. "I never got any support when I was younger. My family was against my cycling but now, since I have been successful, they've become supportive. My father hurled me an ultimatum - give up cycling when I turned 18 or leave the house. I chose to leave. At the time, I was kind of bitter that he would just throw me to the wolves. But he created a scenario in which I had no choice but to learn to be a man all on my own, and that was the best lesson ever. I was determined to do it on my own in any case. But it's nice that they finally support me."
