When and where did you begin this sport? He played football and athletics from the age of eight, pursuing athletics seriously from 17. "I was always fast, even as a four-year-old I loved running. My schoolteacher encouraged me, she told me that her husband was in the Olympics and that I could be, too, one day. Her husband turned out to be long jumper Lynn Davies who won gold at the 1964 Tokyo Games."
