She took a break from the sport after competing at the 2012 Olympic Games in London so that she could start a family with her husband Moses Kiplagat. Her son Allan was born in October 2013 and she returned to training in June 2014. She went on to win a gold medal in the 10,000m at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, People's Republic of China, her first major international competition after her return to running.
