Why this sport? Not only was he a weightlifter by blood with his father being a weightlifter in the 1974 Commonwealth Games, he realised that weightlifting was a sport that tested his own skill. "I didn't like the team aspect of rugby. You could play well and everyone else could be crap, and I didn't like relying on other people to win."
When and where did you begin this sport? He was trained from a young age by his father, and when he was 13, entered his first weightlifting competition.
