| Why this sport? | She says that a constant ear infection forced her to leave swimming, but she still wanted to participate in sport. She began throwing the hammer at an interclub competition in Bankstown. "I was doing the shot put and my coach told me that there was a shortage in girls competing in the hammer throw and they were struggling to get girls to compete. My coach and I decided that I should go in it just for a muck around and that's how I started. I was 11 years old, and it is a memory that has stuck with me forever. When I compete, I think about this day and I know that it couldn’t possibly get any worse than that day." |

She returned to the sport 10 months later after an invitation from UWS Collegians Athletics Club.
