FROM GHANA TO CANADA Born in Accra, Ghana, she moved to the Netherlands at age 13 when her father, a United Nations employee, was transferred there for work. A talented age-group runner, she attracted the attention of several US universities and verbally agreed to attend the University of Missouri. However, while studying English in New York, she made contact with the coaching staff at Simon Fraser University in Canada and decided to enrol there in August 2004.
