He suffered an Achilles injury while competing in the preliminary rounds of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, VIC, Australia, but with the aid of injections managed to claim the bronze medal. Why this sport? He initially played football as a goalkeeper, but was selected to compete in athletics by his school for a local competition. He was to compete in the 110m hurdles, but his high jump teammate was ill so he stepped in to take part instead.
