Her husband Adrian Hegyvary is a US cyclist who has competed at international level in both track cycling and road cycling. The pair have homes in Cambridge, New Zealand, and Asheville, NC, United States of America, but depending on their schedules, they can spend significant periods of time apart. "It's a kind of strange time, to be honest, when we see each other at track events. You have your own track time, your own area in the middle of the track and we're on our own schedule. So sometimes we literally wave at each other from the other side of the velodrome. Some days you have the same schedule and are staying at the same hotel, but it's totally luck of the draw where your country has put you." (newsroom.co.nz, 28 Feb 2019)
