In late September 2011 he alleged he was the victim of a deliberate 'hit-and-run' attack while on his way to training in Brisbane, Australia. His injuries included a double break in his right elbow. Two days after the incident he broke down at a press conference and revealed he had lied to police and the public about the accident, and had simply fallen off his skateboard. "I was embarrassed. I didn't know what to do, I panicked, I freaked, basically to know that I've just fallen off a skateboard, something that a 10-year-old can ride, I was embarrassed something stupid."
