At the start of 2005 she joined the Sports Institute of Northern Ireland [SINI] enabling her access to a wide range of support services in areas such as sports science, sports medicine, conditioning, performance and lifestyle management. Shortly after joining she broke every University of Ulster backstroke record and recognises the importance of SINI's help in her development. "I'm very grateful to the Sports Lottery Fund for making this possible. I'm hoping that the services will help me move to the next level." (SINI, 01 May 2005)

YOUNGEST
In December 2003 at the age of 15, she became the youngest swimmer to represent the Ireland senior team when she competed at the 2003 European Short Course Championships in Dublin, Ireland. (SINI, 01 May 2005)

OLYMPIC DISAPPOINTMENT
The Irish swim team, which she was part of, had their caps removed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, due to the number and size of commercial logos on them. She cited the scramble for new caps as one of the reasons her goggles filled with water when she dove in to the water. She came seventh in the heat. (theepochtimes.com, 12 Aug 2008)
