Why this sport? She was introduced to the sport by her primary school physical education teacher Vasanth Hegde.
When and where did you begin this sport? She began athletics at primary school in India. "When I started my career, I used to run the 100m and 200m. I took part in the national meet for the first time when I was in class seven but didn't win any medal then. In a district-level meet, my coach asked me to run the 400m and that's how it all began."

In September 2022 she received a two-year suspension [effective from June 2022] after returning a positive test for the prohibited substance methylhexaneamine at the 2021 Indian Grand Prix in Patiala.
