Initially a middle distance runner, she took up race walking at age 14 after filling in for her club in the final of an interclub competition. She then continued to compete in junior competition until taking a two-year break in 2000. After trying other sports, including football, she returned to race walking in the middle of 2001. |

RETIREMENT In 2013 she retired from competition to coach her husband Jared, who also is an Australian race walker. The couple moved from Canberra to Adelaide, where she grew up.
