Sport Specific Information |
Why this sport? |
The sport was offered as an activity at her school. "I did not make the cut for my school tennis team, so I decided to try shooting with my friends. Shooting requires a lot of concentration and discipline to be able to make shot after shot with exactly the same precision. It has ended up being part of my life. In tennis, you have to beat your opponent but in shooting, it's only yourself." |
When and where did you begin this sport? |
She began shooting in 2005 in Singapore. |

COPING WITH NERVES She has not always found it is easy to keep calm during competitions. "My first South East Asia Games in 2009 was horrible. At the range everything started going wrong and I just couldn't get used to the lighting and everything there. I had no idea what happened to me. I broke down after the competition. It's definitely got better with more competitions and with the help of my coaches, who tell me to relax and focus on my shots. There will definitely be nerves in every competition, but you have to learn how to control them." She suffered with a shaking hand at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia, where she finished seventh in the final. "As long as you're human you will have nerves. Maybe I need to learn to shoot with a shaking hand." (straitstimes.com/, 08 Apr 2018; todayonline.com, 09 Sep 2014) |
