Other information DRUGS SUSPENSION
He was banned from competition for six months after failing a drug test at the 2002 Tour of Austria. The test found him to have elevated levels of Norandrosterone, a subsequent analysis of his B sample confirmed the substance was in his system and he was handed the ban as well as a 2000 Swiss francs fine. He maintained he did not knowingly ingest an outlawed substance and the length of the ban [the minimum] reflected the fact that he was not suspected of intentionally doping. He returned to competition in May 2003. (bbc.co.uk, 06 Sep 2002)

RETIREMENT
