Gilfach Bowling Club: Wales |
Why this sport? |
"It was a chance encounter with a customer of mine during the time I was working as stewardess of the local British Legion Club. She mentioned she was going to join the village bowls club and I decided to go along with her and join myself." |
General Interest |
Most influential person in career |
"In 2003 I moved clubs to play at Gilfach Bargoed Bowls Club where one of the best known and most successful women players, Rita Jones, was playing. I was very fortunate to play alongside Rita and learned a lot more about the game from her. Anne Greenaway, an established international player, and I teamed up to play county and Welsh competitions together. Playing with and against people like this inspired me to be a better player at a higher level, as did my husband, Frank, who has been my biggest fan and supporter." (South Wales Echo, 27 Apr 2010) |
Ambitions |
"I would say my immediate ambitions will be for us [Wales] to do as well as we can in Delhi and, hopefully, bring some medals back." (South Wales Echo, 27 Apr 2010) |
