GAMES QUALIFICATION He took an unconventional path to the Commonwealth Games. He was playing for the Calgary Canadian Irish Athletics Club when he received a call requesting he join recreational side Dog River Howlers out of Regina for their tour of Cuba [ALBA tournament]. He was noticed by another player and the coach, Shane Thompson who invited him to work out with the team. Four days later he had been accepted to join them and play several tournaments. He soon found himself in contention for a spot on the Commonwealth squad. He trains under Mike Shelley of Canada. (irb.com, 10 Sep 2010, wolfpackrugby.com, 22 Sep 2010, bcrugby.com, 23 Aug 2010) |
